CCCA Bowling Night

Nov 12th, 2008 by Heather P. | Comments

On Friday, October 24th, the CCCA organized a special bowling night at Wonderland Lanes as a socializing opportunity for our neighbors.  Wonderland Lanes provided a generous discount of $10 for 3 hours of unlimited bowling and free shoes.  While only 12 people were able to attend the event, everyone did have a great time and we look forward to organizing more fun, casual events that promote mingling amongst our residents.  The best way to build a strong, safe community is by getting to know your neighbors!

Thanks to all who attended, and if you have a suggestion for a future event, feel free to pass it along to any of the CCCA board members!  Contact information can be found on the website at:

Congressional 11th District Debate

Oct 22nd, 2008 by Leigh McBain | Comments

In case you missed Monday’s Candidate’s Night it was very informative and interesting with candidates from four different political parties represented. The meeting is over but we were able to capture the conversation and debate of the candidates running for Representative in Congress 11th District and have posted it here for you to view. The CCCA will continue to work to bring you events that are important to you and to our neighborhood. Please note that this video is approximately 47 minutes long. So make sure you have some time to watch it and a beverage near by to enjoy.

Candidate’s Night & General Assembly Meeting

Oct 20th, 2008 by John Tasdemir | Comments

On October 20h, CCCA hosted its annual Candidate’s Night and General Assembly Meeting. 25 of our neighbors attended the meeting to see the candidate’s discuss their issues.

Once again Clements Circle held a Candidate’s Night to give our members a chance to meet and greet the people that are putting themselves out there to serve our interests. This tradition has been a great opportunity for our neighborhood to really get to know the candidates and help the undecided voter on Nov 4. Our Annual Fall General Meeting and Candidate’s Night was held on Monday October 20th at 7 pm at Emerson Middle School.

Below is a list of candidates that attended the Candidate’s Night:

Representative in Congress 11th District

  • Thaddeus G McCotter, Republican (incumbent), Chris Gravell represented Rep. McCotter
  • Joseph W Larkin, Democratic
  • Erik Shelley, Green
  • John J Tatar, Libertarian

Representative in State Legislature 17th District

  • Andy Dillon, Democratic (incumbent)
  • Sandra Eggers, Republican, Did not attend the meeting

Wayne County Commissioner 12th District

New Website Design!

Oct 7th, 2008 by Leigh McBain | Comments

Over the last few months I have been working to make the ClementsCircle.org website a much better tool for people to not only get information but post information too. The result is this totally new website.

Now there are still some rough edges but I feel that what I have added so far to this site will really benefit everyone. First off using WordPress to power the site with this “blog” style will allow multiple people to post to the site! So John Tasdamir, the CCCA President or any of the board members will be able to post his own updates without having to wait for me or anyone else to upload the information to the website. This should allow for much more up-to-date information and more frequent posting to the site. Not only will boardmembers be able to post but as a CCCA member you will be able to submit information to the site and if approved it will be posted as well! Talk about getting the word out!

In addition to being able to post information or articles to the site I have also added commenting! You can try it now at the bottom of this article! This will allow you to read a post and then add your own thoughts, ideas or commentary to help enhance the communication and make it a truly two way conversation!

I’m excited to get this new site up and running and hope that you will find it useful and easy to navigate. As I said before there are still some rough spots but if you see some thing that you think should be changed or inproved please let us know!

Neighborhood picnic

Jul 28th, 2008 by Leigh McBain | Comments

It’s back! The CCCA neighborhood picnic is back and bigger then ever! We have pulled out all the stops to make sure this year’s picnic is by far the best one yet We have brought back the kid’s bike parade with lots of prizes for all and we have added “Bounce House” for the kids to really get their jumping fix! But wait there is more! We have also lined up several sponsors to ensure we have plenty of food for everyone that attends! How much you ask? What will it cost me, you say! Well the CCCA IS BRINGING THIS TO YOU FOR THE GREAT LOW PRICE OF FREE! Yes that’s right it will cost you nothing to enjoy a nice, fun filled family style picnic with all your friends and neighbors. So please join us on Saturday, August 9th in the Clements Circle park for this great event.

Clements Circle Softball

Jun 19th, 2008 by Leigh McBain | Comments

Well the first season went so well with the softball league that we were able to put together last year with Devon Aire Civic Association and Old Rosedale Gardens Homeowners Association that we decided to do it again! This year is even bigger and better then last year with Devon Aire and Old Rosedale fielding not 1 but 2 teams each! This has really gotten the competitive juices flowing between all the teams and made it a lot more fun playing neighbor against neighbor. So if you get a chance please come out and cheer on our Clements Circle Team at either Kleinert Park or at Devon Aire Park. A full schedule can be found on our calendar page at http://www.clementscircle.org/ClementsCircle/Events_Calendar.html
